Not every spokesperson is good for every industry and product. For example, nobody is going to hire Paris Hilton to promote the cause of assistance among the randy little high school population. It is also a near certainty that we will never see Flavor Flav hawking the sort of products that make the claim that they can bring about massive bulk, rock hard abs, and glutes you bounce a quarter (or anything else) off of. So when ex-running back, misogynist, and multiple murderer, O.J. Simpson speaks about poker, it is like throwing the entire sport under the bus.
