Playing a Mid-Sized Pair

Let's say your hole cards are a pair of 9s. This is not a hand that does very well in a multi-way pot; there are just too many ways to beat your duet of mid-sized cards. You can either play tight and fold, or you can play your hand. If you are going to play the 9s, you're going to want to isolate yourself against one or two other players.
